Date Night - Lost Cities
In this series we play a game for several weeks on our "date nights" which range anywhere from taking the family to run around at a park while we get a game in - to staying up late and gaming after they're all asleep. After enough recent plays, we film what one of these date nights look like.
We hope this series gets some games in front of couples or at the least gives you some good 2 player game options. Enjoy!

I was considering using premade, separate backing boards, black matte, about 5mm thick and maybe 12.5x10" each, to make a trifold board. What can you recommend to provide the hinge? I am hoping not to do much in the way of cutting anything other than the printed paper board, as my accuracy with thick cardboard seems to be terrible no matter what I do. At the hinge, I was considering 2" black bookbinding tape for the back of the board, and white for the front of the board, so there is less chance of it showing through the paper. I am considering using window film for the front of the board once the paper gameboard is attached, and using label paper to print the actual board on. Am I correct in assuming I would need to provide a gap between backing boards equal to the thickness of the backing board, at the hinge? I'd appreciate your thoughts on this idea. Thank you for your video and I hope I am heading in the right direction.

Probably the best game board video I could find - especially a trifold! (and loved the dialog in-between clips) I also must have watched this video 20+ times planning and then when creating, pausing it for every step of the process. I'm surprised on how involved it was to make this kind of game board but I'm happy with the results! I did a 27x27 inch game board for my game, some things I found difficult on this scale was putting the spray glued pieces into place, getting it to line up right as well as smoothing it out without getting wrinkles. The other problem I had was the glue stick, maybe mine was old but it didn't hold at the joints very well when I began bend the print side.

You use a table knife to score; I often use the back-side of an X-acto blade. This probably answers the question I had, which is, how would you ensure that scoring didn't take off printer ink? Do you spray it beforehand? Excellent as always. I hope you fired your writers, man.

Question: Is there a way to repurpose old game boards? My plan is to hand draw/paint my game onto the board. Is there a material that I can use to cover up the old game art to create a blank surface that is both durable and paintable? Thank you ahead for any feedback anyone has to offer.

Thank for this video. I make simple memory match games that I use for teaching English in Japan. I have been ordering my games from Customer Board game makers in Honk Kong, they just dubbed all of their prices. So from $16.00 ( which was already expensive) to now $32.00 a game( for game and box)so I am looking for a cheaper way. Thank you so much. I will try this.

THIS VIDEO... this is internet... i cant describe it but... this video is what internet videos should be no 99999999999dollars 500000 sponsors giga ultra HD production, just a guy at home, with his camera, with a somewhat midrange quality microphone, doing his own editing which gives it the feel that this was made by someone who cares and not just as some corporate production, the "awkward" jokes, the personal humor, not using garbage royalty free ukulele or having generic animations downloaded from the same site as 10000 other UA-camrs who make these kind of videos... this is the right way to do it internet

Starting where you started is madness. They don't have any concept of what the game is and you are teaching cattle delivery? The first thing you need to teach is the broad concept. "We're going to be taking our cowboys along this trail from the start to Kansas City and delivering cattle several times over the course of the game. Along the way, you can stop at buildings to take various actions such as hiring help, building buildings, and buying better cattle. When you reach Kansas City each time you'll deliver cattle you have in hand and those cattle will get shipped along this rail track. The quality and variety of your cattle, and how far you are able to ship them will all impact your rewards for the cattle drive. Then you'll go back to the start and do the trip again". In no way should you ever begin explaining any game without some broad concept explanation such as this first.
